WATCH: Jamison Crowder expects to be 'very valuable' addition to Jets
Throughout his career, Adam Gase has shown an innate ability to extract maximum efficiency from slot receivers such as Pro Bowlers Wes Welker and Jarvis Landry.
Jamison Crowder is confident he's the next in line now that he's a member of the Jets.
The former Redskins wide receiver signed a three-year, $28.5 million contract with the Jets this offseason. Crowder is showing a positive attitude as he adapts to Gase's system.
“I pride myself on just going out there and being a ball player, regardless of where they want me to play — inside and out it doesn’t matter,” Crowder said to New York Jets.com. “I just try to learn as much as I can and continue to go out there and take it to the field and continue to grow as a player in this league, both mentally and physically. I take pride in everything honestly.”
Unfortunately, Crowder sat out seven games last season due to an ankle injury. However, Crowder flashed his explosiveness in 2016 and 2017 with 10 total touchdowns. Crowder's career-long touchdown is a 79-yard score last season.
Crowder is certain he's going to be a dependable component of Gase's offense.
“I think I’ll be very valuable. Just looking at the film, he (Gase) had guys like Wes Welker, Jarvis Landry, those guys have really put up numbers in this league,” Crowder said to New York Jets.com. “I’m just trying to learn the system as best as I can and go out there and be the best that I can every day and bring that value that I can to the offense and to the team.”
There's no reason why Crowder can't have a similar effect in Gase's offense comparable to Welker or Landry. If Crowder stays healthy, he'll be given many opportunities to prove so.
