Lions' Terrion Arnold Has a Bizarre Message for His Mom This Mother's Day Weekend
When the Detroit Lions picked defensive back Terrion Arnold with the 24th selection of last month's NFL draft, it's likely that they—like all teams—were hoping to find a player that could meld seamlessly into the team's identity.
On Friday morning, Arnold demonstrated to reporters that he is practically there already.
In an expression of football love coach Dan Campbell could appreciate, Arnold made clear that his love for his mother would not stand in the way of his desire to win football games.
“If my mom was a receiver, I’d jam her into the dirt," the Alabama product said at the Lions' rookie minicamp. “And she knows that.”
The statement joins a long history of athletes declaring that family members will not impede them from winning. For instance, Hall of Fame pitcher Early Wynn is reputed to have said, "I would knock down my own grandmother if she dug in on me."
Anyway, happy Mother's Day to Tamala Arnold, who received a touching message from her son at March's NFL combine in Indianapolis.
