The framework of a contract extension could be taking shape for Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

According to multiple reports, the Philadelphia Eagles have made the decision to exercise DeVonta Smith's fifth-year option and signed the speedy wideout to a new three-year contract extension.

The 25-year-old reportedly inked a three-year extension worth $75 million and includes $51 million in guaranteed monies.

For St. Brown, a similar contract extension should be already in the works. Head coach Dan Campbell expressed at the annual league meeting that extending St. Brown and Jared Goff were organizational priorities.

"Everything he does is why he’s who he is. His work ethic, his desire to be good, his will to overcome," Campbell said about St. Brown. "The amount of film that he watches, the pre-practice warmup, the post-practice routine that he has.

"I mean, it’s just everything about him is about being the best player he can possibly be. Being the best player, not (just) he can be. He wants to be the best, and everything he does, it’s not lip service. Like, he literally does everything he can possibly do to be the best, and that’s why. There’s no secret."

Many will clamor for the former USC Trojans wideout to earn more than Smith, given he recorded more receiving yards and touchdowns in 2023 than Smith.

St. Brown, an All-Pro in 2023, finished with a 91.2 overall offensive grade via Pro Football Focus along with 1,515 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

"Just walk around with him. Why don’t you go live with him for a while if you really want to know what it looks like," said Campbell. "Half of the guys will say, ‘Well, I’m going to be great,” and they would go and they would quit Day 2 or Day 3. This guy just keeps going."

Given what he could accomplish in a Lions uniform, a four-year, $112 million contract with $75 million guaranteed would properly reward one of the top wideouts in the NFL.
