Lions Fans Share New Uniform Wishes
The Detroit Lions are planning to unveil their new uniforms for the first time during a season-ticket member event scheduled for April 18 at Ford Field.
At the annual league meeting, team president Rod Wood expressed the color scheme will be similar, but will have numbers that are likely easier to read, new color-rush options and tweaks to the alternate helmet.
“They’re honoring our traditional color with a little updating and twist. And it gives us a lot more options, too," Wood said. “We’re going to introduce a couple different pant options that can go with jerseys, so it will give us different options to wear during the season.”
Members of the roster have already taken part in a photoshoot that left them "very happy" with the updated version of Detroit's uniform.
“We had a number of them go through a photoshoot and I think they were all very, very excited about them,” Wood explained. “We’ve got a few players who really care about uniforms, and those that do were very happy with what they saw.”
Fans have taken to social media to share online what they hope is featured in the new uniforms.
One supporter posted, "Updated throwback. The black looks like the Panthers and I don't want the Lions to look anything like them."
Another expressed, "No more skinny numbers. Big blocky numbers, white outlined in silver."
Here is a sample of what Lions fans desire to see when the new uniform is showcased for the first time on April 18.
