Aaron Glenn Is Not Worried about 'Job Security' after Abysmal Defensive Display
Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has had the opportunity to vent his frustrations with his wife about the team's poor defensive performance against the Seattle Seahawks.
Naturally, after listening to a coach vent at dinner, his wife patiently waited and asked, "Are you done? So go be AG. Man, you are built for this."
Despite all the noise surrounding the second-year defensive coordinator's job status, Glenn is not at all focused on his job security.
"The one thing I don't worry about is job security," Glenn said. "I've been blessed to play this game for a long time, and I've been blessed to coach for a long time. And, everyday I get up, I enjoy doing what I do. I would say this -- even though me and Dan are friends, this is a job. And, I'll look at it like that, too. But, I have to perform just like everybody else has to perform. He has to perform. The players have to perform. When things are not going well, you have to answer to that. And, I'm not, I'm not blind to the fact of that."
Frustration against the Seahawks
The Lions' defense had many collapses and breakdowns, resulting in the team's 48-45 Week 4 loss.
Glenn indicated there were certain fundamental breakdowns that the coaching staff must look to correct, to ensure the players are being put in the best position to succeed.
"There are things that -- some fundamental things that we got to really get better at," Glenn explained. "Obviously, tackling. Being able to execute in situations that continue to happen over and over again. Even on the outside as coaches, being able to make sure we put every player in the best situation where they can be successful. We have to always assess that, and that's something that we always will do. So, those are the things that disappointed me, and we have to continue to look at those things."
D'Andre Swift not likely to suit up against the New England Patriots
While it is not a surprise, ESPN is reporting Swift will likely miss the team's Week 5 game against the New England Patriots, sitting out for the second consecutive week.
Barring any setbacks, the plan is for Swift to return after the Lions' bye week and to resume football activities ahead of the Dallas Cowboys game.
