Lions Expect Hutchinson to Take Another Step in Becoming 'Dominant'
The Detroit Lions are expecting Aidan Hutchinson to play at a very high level in 2023.
After a solid rookie season, the talented EDGE rusher will be tasked with taking his game to the next level.
Part of becoming a dominant player in the National Football League is evaluating all facets of the craft, including nutrition.
Gone are the almost daily takeout meals, including the favorite chicken caesar wrap and sweet potato fries, following a long day at the team's Allen Park facility.
Hutchinson, 22, has hired a personal chef, and has worked to gain strength, flexibility and improved mental clarity, ahead of his sophomore campaign in the NFL.
"Really, really good player," Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn told reporters, ahead of OTA practice. "Know exactly what to expect out of me as a coach and him as a player. Continue to put him in a position to be successful and expect him to take another step, as far as being a dominant player. Being on the edge, in the run and in the passing game. So, there’s no doubt he’ll be a better player this second year than he was this year."
Glenn indicated, when asked what mindset he wanted the former No. 2 pick to have this season, that he wanted the young defensive lineman to continue to focus and gain further knowledge of the scheme.
"Just continue to focus. Continue to work," said Glenn. "Continue to study and continue to understand the scheme. Once he does that, he’s great at those things. I have no issue with how he’s going to operate there. So, again, I am expecting that player to have a jump.”
Speaking with reporters following practice, Hutchinson expressed he feels stronger than he ever has, after a solid offseason workout regimen produced noticeable gains.
"It's crazy the difference in how I feel over this year timespan," Hutchinson said. "I feel stronger than ever. I feel more mobile than ever. I really think just having an offseason to take my time and focus on some of my body deficiencies has helped me a ton. I can't wait."
