Amon-Ra St. Brown Trending Towards Returning against Buccaneers

Amon-Ra St. Brown's health is trending in the positive direction.
In this story:

The Detroit Lions missed the services of wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown in Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers. St. Brown, the team's top offensive weapon, was sidelined due to an abdominal injury.

Without him, the offense relied on the likes of Josh Reynolds and Kalif Raymond to contribute. Tight end Sam LaPorta was also a big part of the passing game.

While the offense didn't miss a beat, it would certainly benefit from the return of St. Brown. According to Dan Campbell, that return may come as soon as Week 6.

In his weekly radio appearance, Campbell expressed it is always difficult to keep the talented wideout from suiting up, but it eventually turned out to be the correct decision.

"It's not easy to put 'Saint' down, as you can possibly imagine. I do feel, I feel pretty good about the possibility of him playing this week," Campbell told Lions' flagship radio. "It's certainly more than questionable, I think it's closer to probable at this point. We'll see how this week goes."

Through four games, St. Brown has 26 receptions for 331 yards and two scores. Reynolds and LaPorta have also had strong starts to their seasons.

Defensive back Brian Branch, another key player who missed Sunday's game, is more uncertain as far as his injury status.

"It's tough to say. I don't know, I really don't know," Campbell explained. "Basically, today, it looked a little bit better, but a couple of things here or there when he moves a certain way going this direction, it's still — so it's just tough. It's how quick can he heal."
