Amon-Ra St. Brown Shares Lofty Team Goals for 2022 Season
For rookie wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and the rest of the Detroit Lions organization, it is time to begin creating and working toward much loftier goals.
General manager Brad Holmes appears to have found a talented and gritty wideout, who emerged in the second half of the 2021 season.
St. Brown finished his rookie campaign with 912 yards and five receiving touchdowns.
Unfortunately, the additions of wideouts Tyrell Williams, Breshad Perriman and Trinity Benson did not pan out.
As a result, the team could be in line to add three or more wideouts to the receivers room this offseason.
Despite the misfires, Holmes is not completely revamping how he and the scouting department evaluate wideouts.
“I’m very confident in my evaluations of all positions, not just receivers but all positions,” Holmes said at the Senior Bowl. “You do learn lessons in everything, but we’re not taking a different approach. I’m not looking at the receiver position in general, and revamping my evaluation process because of those one-offs.”
In an interview with SI's AllTrojans, St. Brown shared some lofty team goals for his sophomore campaign.
"I think our biggest goal is to get in the postseason, to get in the playoffs. You can't win a Super Bowl without getting into the playoffs," St. Brown said.
"I think for us, we want to win the division. That's obviously going to get you to the playoffs. So, being able to win the division, make the playoffs -- and once we make the playoffs, I think we're just going to take it week by week. Try to win every game, but it's going to take a lot of work to get there and we understand that," St. Brown continued. "But, I think that's our goal is to win the division, make the playoffs. And then, once we make those playoffs, it's a whole new season. Starting from scratch, you got to go week by week."
Do the Rams win the Lombardi Trophy?
A large contingent of supporters in Detroit will be rooting for Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams to win the Lombardi Trophy next week.
St. Brown shared when asked for a prediction, "I feel like it's only right for me to lean for L.A. and Matthew Stafford, who played for the Lions. ... I just got to go for the home team on this one."
