Bears Fans Sensitive David Montgomery Told Truth About Losing Team
Chicago Bears fans did not take too kindly to recent comments made by new Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery.
After signing a free-agent contract this offseason, the talented running back was having a conversation in an online video game stream with new teammate C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
The veteran defensive back brought up the trials and tribulations Montgomery has been through early in his career when he brought up the toll losing in Chicago had on him.
Recall, the Bears went 3-14 in 2022, frustrating everybody in the entire organization.
"That's all I was used to," Montgomery said of the Bears' struggles. "And it got to a point where it sucked the fun out of the game for me because I'm a competitor. I like to compete. That's what football's about. It's so refreshing to be in a place where that's appreciated."
In Detroit, there are expectations the team will make a strong postseason push in 2023.
In Chicago, not so much.
Detroit's newest running back indicated he had a strong desire to play for Lions head coach Dan Campbell.
"My first impressions of meeting and talking to him, he's passionate about the game, bro. He's a players' coach. You can tell," Montgomery explained. "That was one of the things that brought me here and excited me, too, because I watched the Hard Knocks before I got here. And to see how he was coaching, bro, I was like 'yo, I can play for him.' He makes you want to run through a wall for him."
Here is a sample of the comments made by disgruntled Bears fans.
If he likes to win and compete then why in the hell did he go to Detroit

Had a ton of respect for him while he was with the Bears. Still do, but let’s be honest, he’s upset the Bears didn’t offer more to keep him. I wish him in the best, top tier person and player. Just wish he left with more class.
