The Miami Dolphins have added a former member of the Detroit Lions defensive staff to serve as their secondary coach and pass game coordinator.

According to NFL Network, Brian Duker, who spent three seasons in Motown, will depart and take on a new opportunity for the AFC East powerhouse organization.

In 2023, Duker worked on Aaron Glenn's defense as the Lions' defensive backs coach.

Duker originally worked with the safeties, before being assigned to take on a larger role working with the defensive backs as the 2022 season progressed.

According to the team website, "He helped S Kerby Joseph become the NFL's first rookie since 2005 to produce at least four interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in a season. In 2021, Duker worked on staff as a defensive assistant, working closely with the secondary unit and the team's defensive passing game strategies."

Many wondered what the hiring of Deshea Townsend meant for the Lions' secondary.

Townsend, 48, served as the defensive passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars the past two seasons.

The veteran defensive coach has also had stints with the Chicago Bears (2019-21), New York Giants (2018), Tennessee Titans (2016-17), and Arizona Cardinals (2011-12).

Townsend also won the Super Bowl twice with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
