Detroit Lions Bruce Irvin was all smiles after discovering what his fine would be for hitting New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr last week.

Prior to his debut, the 36-year-old expressed he wanted to bring an added edge and level of aggressiveness to Detroit's defense, which has struggled to pressure opposing quarterbacks.

On Friday, the veteran walked by reporters after practice in the locker room and expressed he was fined only $7,000 for delivering a hit that sent the veteran quarterback out of the game. The actual amount of his fine totaled $7,766.

Irvin predicted that he would receive the fine following the game Sunday.

Additionally, he was selected to take a random Performance Enhancing Substance test on Wednesday.

The veteran is expected to continue giving the defense a jolt heading into the Week 14 matchup with Chicago.

He played 11 snaps in the win over New Orleans and is expected to receive a bigger workload moving forward.

“Not very many snaps, but he was very productive in those snaps,” said defensive end Aidan Hutchinson. “It was definitely something we needed and, yeah, he’s been great so far. So hopefully he can keep it up.”

Irvin was the second Lion fined in recent weeks, as teammate Amon-Ra St. Brown was fined $43,709 for a block levied against the Chicago Bears in Week 11.

“I thought he had the ball,” Irvin said, via Pro Football Talk. “The game is different now. They said I had to roll off to the side. I don’t know how I’m gonna do that, but just something I guess I’ve got to focus on more.”
