Buccaneers to Wear Creamsicle Uniforms against Lions
When the Detroit Lions hit the road in Week 6 of the NFL season, their opponents will don throwback uniforms.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will wear their orange uniforms for the matchup, the team announce via social media Monday. The two teams have a history of being rivals, dating back from their days playing in the NFC Central before the league realigned.
It'll be the first time the Buccaneers wear them since 2012. Affectionately dubbed the 'Creamsicle' jerseys for their color, the Buccaneers first donned them when they broke into the league.
In addition to the uniforms, Raymond James Stadium, the Buccaneers' home site, will reportedly be transformed to honor the early stages of the franchise's history.
The Lions currently have announced no changes to their current uniforms. They hold a 31-29 all-time record vs. the Buccaneers, but have lost the last two meetings.
The two teams were both members of the NFC Central division from 1977-2001. That final year, the league made changes to its structure, to accommodate the addition of the Houston Texans as an expansion team.
The Buccaneers were moved to the newly formed NFC South, along with Atlanta, New Orleans and Carolina.
Detroit's last victory over Tampa Bay came on Dec. 10, 2017, in its last trip to Raymond James Stadium.
