Cam Sutton Active against Cowboys

Lions will have their top defensive back against Cowboys
In this story:

The Detroit Lions will have cornerback Cam Sutton in the lineup this week against the Dallas Cowboys.

Earlier, it was reported the veteran would be a game-time decision, as he appeared on the injury report late in the week with a toe injury.

The Cowboys' passing offense, especially within the comfy confines of AT&T Stadium, has been stellar this season.

"They’re in their comfortable surroundings of their home, first and foremost. It’s just something about them as far as, man, listen, our tempo, our execution, the plays that they have, because you told that – that shows up when you watch them on home games and away games of how they attack you," said Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. "And, I think it’s because of the way the crowd responds to them in those situations."

Detroit's defense must contend with an explosive offense. Glenn noted the team must begin the game on a solid note and continue to play well after the halftime break. Otherwise, the game will get out of hand quickly.

"I’ll tell you what, they’re a very explosive team, and we have to be on our P’s and Q’s to start this game off," said Glenn.

Detroit's defense must also contend with Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott's ability to extend plays.

"I think he’s smart, I think he’s tough. I think he brings a different aspect, as far as him being able to throw it with pinpoint accuracy and know where to go with the ball, but also have the ability to run with the ball and be able to make plays with his legs," Glenn said. "And, listen, he’s not like (Justin) Fields and these other guys, but he can make some plays with his legs.”

Here is the updated list of the Lions' Week 17 inactives:

  • CB Steven Gilmore
  • WR Antoine Green
  • QB Hendon Hooker (emergency quarterback)
  • DL Brodric Martin
  • LB Julian Okwara
  • DL Levi Onwuzurike
  • TE Brock Wright
