'You Make The Number': Cam Sutton Honored to Wear No. 1

New Lions defensive back Cam Sutton is ready to get to work with the Detroit Lions.
In this story:

New Detroit Lions cornerback Cam Sutton expressed that his transition to playing for a new NFL team has been seamless. He worked out earlier this offseason with Alex Anzalone and James Houston down in Florida, along with several other members of Detroit's defense.

With several members of the roster also having played collegiately at Tennessee, Sutton is finding the atmosphere in Detroit to be very similar to his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers

Detroit's newest defensive back joined Woodward Sports, and shared with hosts Tom Mazawey, Braylon Edwards and Ryan Ermanni what it means to him to don the No. 1 jersey.

"It's definitely attitude," Sutton explained. "Obviously, the number doesn't make you, you make the number. But, you have to bring that full attitude out. You just -- it's a demeanor. You don't have that expectation on you just because of the number. I mean, you can put that same expectation on the number 50 and number 99. The expectation is you doing your job, doing what you're brought here to do and doing that to your best ability and beyond. So, like I said, I'm ready. I'm ready to do all of that."

The 28-year-old veteran is ready to bring to the Lions' secondary the appropriate mindset and work ethic that will surely impress his teammates and the coaching staff.

"It's an honor. It's an honor and privilege to wear No. 1, first and foremost," said Sutton. "But again, I have to bring that, I have to bring that full attitude each and every day."
