Dan Campbell, Brad Holmes Earn Contract Extensions

Campbell, Holmes will be around for the next several years.

The Detroit Lions organization has rewarded general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell with contract extensions.

Both hired in 2021, the dynamic duo agreed to extensions through the 2027 season.

Campbell had three years remaining on his original deal, but has now been rewarded with a new contract.

Financial terms were not originally disclosed.

Early in their tenures in Motown, there were questions regarding if the pairing could work, since the two had not previously worked together.

While there were early bumps in the road, the duo has been in lockstep regarding roster decisions and in defending its philosophy of drafting players that fit the mold and developing them in a supportive environment.

After winning only three games its inaugural season, the pair has seen the team learn to win, and it even found itself in the NFC Championship Game this past season.

After defeating the Rams at Ford Field, Campbell again expressed his admiration for the leadership team he works with and the organization's front office.

“Once I got around him, it was -- I could feel that (bond) early,” Campbell told reporters about working with Holmes. “It’s one of those, well if this is who he is and this doesn’t change, we’re going to be just fine. And, sure enough, he’s everything that I thought he was going to be from those first meetings.”

Chris Spielman has also agreed to remain in Motown, earning an extension for the contributions he has made to the organization.

"We are thrilled to have Brad and Dan under contract for the next four seasons," principal owner Sheila Hamp said. "They have been the driving force behind the rebuild of our football team and the success that we have enjoyed. The continuity they provide for our football program will continue to be the key to our future success on the field."
