Dan Campbell Lands 16th in 33rd Team NFL Coaches Ranking
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is among the most popular coaches in the National Football League.
Recently, running back David Montgomery expressed he was excited to join the Lions' roster to be able to play for a head coach that is known for getting the most out of players and is quite popular in the locker room.
In a recent ranking of NFL coaches by The 33rd Team, Detroit's third-year head coach came in ranked at No. 16.
As Ross Tucker explained, "Campbell is another former teammate of mine. This might be a little too high for what he’s accomplished thus far, but the buzz around this Detroit Lions team is real, and so was that win in Lambeau in Week 18 to kick the Green Bay Packers out of the playoffs."
Prior to OTA practice last week, Campbell indicated one of the primary goals in offseason workouts is to develop chemistry with a newly assembled roster.
"This is our third OTA coming up. We’ve been on the grass two days now, and the guys know that this is a new – this is really a new squad, 2023," said Campbell. "You know, we’ve got new players, and there’s a new chemistry that we’ve got to develop with each other, knowing that we also know where we’ve come from. And, there’s a reason why we’ve been able to improve every year, so we can’t lose that.
"But, at the same token, we’ve got to start over again, and that’s what this spring is about," Campbell continued. "So, the guys know that nobody’s going to win a job in May or June. But, what we do now will help them get into camp and compete for one of those jobs or for more opportunities, offense, defense and special teams.”
Campbell's record with Detroit is 17-28-1.
