Dan Campbell Does Not Want to Coach Texas A&M
Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell has made waves for his turnaround of the organization since taking over in 2021.
The Texas A&M alum has been a revelation for the Lions. Now, with his alma mater in need of a head coach, Campbell's name was listed as a potential candidate.
Speaking Friday, Campbell didn't deny his alma mater reaching out with interest, but reaffirmed that he won't be leaving the Lions. He voiced his support for the school, however, and pledged to help in any way besides for roaming the sidelines.
"Maybe, but that's all good," Campbell said. "Certainly, I know some people there. I love my school, that's my alma mater. I want to do anything I can to help them but coach. And, I'll do that."
Detroit's third-year head coach explained that getting the right person for the job, one who understands the importance of football in Texas and the history of the program, is key in revitalizing the currently struggling Aggies program.
"I don't want to get into all that. Certainly, the hire's important," Campbell said. "It needs to be someone who understands the history of Texas, understands the history of Texas A&M and can communicate with young people and develop them. I think that's where it starts, strong leadership."

Injury updates
The Lions will take the practice field without both Jonah Jackson and Isaiah Buggs Friday, in preparation for the team's Week 11 matchup with the Chicago Bears.
Both players have been non-participants both Wednesday and Thursday. Jackson is listed as dealing with both wrist and ankle injuries, while Buggs has been dealing with an illness.
Campbell explained Jackson went through walkthrough Friday morning, but will not participate in practice. The veteran offensive lineman had missed three consecutive games with an ankle injury, before returning last week against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Buggs was not in the building Friday, and Campbell is unsure when the defensive tackle will return to action.
"He's got a couple things going on medically, so I don't know. I don't know for sure how long this will be," Campbell said of Buggs.
Buggs has seen his role fluctuate throughout the 2023 season. He has been up and down, going between being an active player on game days and a healthy scratch.
When asked whether the defender still has a role on this year's team, Campbell responded bluntly.
"Not today, he doesn't," Campbell said. "He's not in the building."
