Dan Campbell: 'We're Back in the Mud'
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell certainly is frustrated that the team was not able to secure a victory against the Seattle Seahawks.
As teams do, the page has been quickly turned, and for the Lions, it is wise to focus on preparing for the Atlanta Falcons.
Starting the season 2-0, Arthur Smith's squad also plays a physical and violent brand of football.
Campbell noted prior to practice Wednesday, the Falcons "will take your soul" if the Lions do not get back to their brand of football.
"I hate losing, but I love this because this is I just feel like this is what we're all about, you know. We're back to reality. We're back in the mud," said Campbell. "It's doom and gloom outside of this building and this world. Man, let's just hunker down and go to work, and let's get back to what we do well."
With the injuries piling up, plus questions arising regarding the defense and coaching decisions, supporters have certainly ridden the emotional tide wave over the past 72 hours.
"It takes all of us to win. It's going to take all three phases," said Campbell. "And, I just feel like that's what we do best. And, I know our guys. I know our coaches. And, man, this is challenge accepted. Challenge accepted. I just, I feel really good. I do. And, I know the opponent that is coming in -- if we don't get back to our identity, this team will take your soul. And so, that's the motivation."
Practice squad moves
The team announced defensive lineman Chris Smith has been released from the practice squad.
Linebacker Mitchell Agude, cornerback Darius Phillips, running back Devine Ozigbo and offensive lineman Dan Skipper have been signed to the team's practice squad.
Recall, Zonovan Knight and Kayode Awosika have been signed to Detroit's active 53-man roster.
