David Montgomery: Lions' Offense Most 'High-Powered' during Career

David Montgomery appeared on Amon-Ra St. Brown's podcast.

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery is enjoying defeating the Green Bay Packers for the first time in his career.

The talented running back has drawn praise for the start to his tenure in Motown.

After signing a three-year free agent contract, the 26-year-old lead back is part of the most "high-powered" offense he has ever played for.

Appearing on the latest "33rd Team" podcast hosted by Amon-Ra St. Brown, Montgomery discussed signing with Detroit and having Jameson Williams return to an offense that has already started the season playing well.

Montgomery expressed he was seeking $8 to $10 million annually in free agency, but recognized the market for running backs was drying up quickly.

After experiencing a little stress, he recognized quickly the Lions had a strong interest in adding him to the roster.

"You could just tell Detroit wanted me to be here, more than Chicago did," said Montgomery. "And, I understand it was a business. But, to feel wanted in a place and coming into a great situation, I knew it was the right decision for me. And, I'm happy to be here, really."

With the anticipated return of Jameson Williams this week, Detroit's roster is excited about the potential of the offense to reach even greater heights.

"It's insane," Montgomery commented, when reflecting on the offense having an explosive weapon return to the lineup.

"It's going to be -- like it's the most high-powered offense I've ever been a part of, bro. And, just to add a piece like 'Jamo,' it will take us to another step."
