Detroit Lions' 2023 Week 1 Tuesday Injury Report

Read more on the Detroit Lions' injury report released Tuesday.

The Detroit Lions may be avoiding one of the NFL's top tight ends when they head to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Kansas City Chiefs.

While the Lions' roster will still prepare for tight end Travis Kelce, who reportedly hyperextended his knee at practice, it would be a huge advantage for the defense to not have to deal with a savvy offensive veteran.

For Detroit, they are entering Week 1 relatively healthy, with only Frank Ragnow and Emmanuel Moseley on the injury report.

Playing at Arrowhead, the objective for Detroit's roster is to make sure their communication is stellar in a loud road environment.

"Offensively, the communication piece. Knowing you're not gonna be able to go verbal," Dan Campbell told reporters. "That's really the difference, is knowing, right out of the gate offensively we have to be able to communicate. Really, it's no different than if you're at home, our defense has to be ready to communicate non-verbally. .... There's always a give and take, if you will. To me, that's the most important piece to this, the offensive communication.

"I feel like we've been really good, now, three days in," Campbell explained further. "We've got the speakers going out there, we're blasting it, we've got two sides of it. We've got them driving the carts down, so we make sure that it's non-stop chaotic and you can't hear yourself think. Because if they can handle that now, they'll be ready Thursday night."

Quarterback Jared Goff will be tasked with steering the communication offensively.

"Certainly, most of it is Goff," Campbell explained. "He's the one that steers the ship there. And then Frank has to be right in unison with him."
