Top LB Prospect Drew Sanders: 'Love' the Detroit Lions' Coaches
The Detroit Lions have a top-30 visit scheduled next Thursday with Arkansas Razorbacks linebacker Drew Sanders.
“I’ve met with them at the combine, and I have my 30 visit with them coming up (next week), so I’m pretty excited for that," Sanders said, via the Free Press. "But, love the coaches there so far, and I’m excited to get to know them a little bit more."
Widely considered among the top college prospects at his position, Sanders had an opportunity to discuss strategy during his formal combine interview with Detroit.
"Honestly, right when I went into the room it was straight Xs and Os," said Sanders. "We didn’t get too much time to talk about stuff, but I imagine this week it’ll be a little bit more of that."
After starting his collegiate career playing for Alabama, the talented linebacker transferred to Arkansas in 2022.
"I feel like I’d fit in well in any place," he said. "I’d be excited to go play for a coach like you’ve got there and get after it."
Last season, Sanders secured 103 tackles and finished with 9.5 sacks.
According to NFL Draft Bible, "This season at Arkansas, the former five-star recruit has played mostly as a middle linebacker, with some reps off the edge. Sanders' decision to switch to linebacker has paid dividends, as he has been one of the most productive players in the nation this season. It starts with his speed. Sanders plays with a different level of speed, as good as any linebacker in the country. He comes downhill fast and has the range to play sideline to sideline. On outside zone runs, Sanders uses his speed to track down ball carriers with ease to make impactful tackles."
