Report: Emmanuel Moseley Tore Right ACL
Emmanuel Moseley battled to return to playing NFL football, and expressed excitement about making his debut for the Detroit Lions.
The 27-year-old signed a one-year, free-agent contract this offseason, following a stint with the San Francisco 49ers.
Unfortunately, the talented defensive back tore his right ACL against the Carolina Panthers, after only playing two official snaps, according to multiple reports.
Moseley worked his way back to the field, after rehabbing from a torn left ACL suffered last season with the 49ers.
Jerry Jacobs and Cam Sutton have been the starting defensive backs all season, but the team does not have a significant amount of depth behind them.
With Moseley being likely gone for the remainder of the 2023 season, Steven Gilmore may start to earn more playing time in Aaron Glenn's stout defense.
Against the Jacksonville Jaguars during the preseason, Gilmore showed resiliency after giving up a big play.
“I think those are the type of things you’re looking for from these young players,” Dan Campbell explained to reporters, after Gilmore recorded an interception. “These things are going to happen. You’re going to get hit on a play, something bad is going to happen, you may get a flag thrown on you. It’s all about what happens next. You want to know if these players are resilient, and I would say Gilmore, that was encouraging. You give up a big one, and then you go right back, and you don’t bat an eye. You get a big knockdown in the red zone, and then he gets a ricochet interception. Those are big."
