Five Lions Miss Friday Practice

Lions practiced one final time before Falcons game.

The Lions took to the practice field on one final occasion before facing the Atlanta Falcons.

Several key players could miss the contest, but one factor that could impact the decisions of the coaching staff is the game next week against the Green Bay Packers

A short week of practice likely indicates those missing the game this week have a higher hill to climb to be activated next week.

"The trick with some of this is gonna be next week, we don't have any live reps in a short week so that's what makes it hard," said Campbell. "Even some guys, it's can you really get them practice reps even if they're physically ready? That'll be the trick with some of these guys."

Those not spotted at practice by reporters present included David Montgomery, Taylor Decker, Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Emmanuel Moseley and Kerby Joseph.

Each of the above have not practiced this week.

If Montgomery ends up sitting out, Jahmyr Gibbs will likely be the featured target, along with Craig Reynolds and newly added Zonovan Knight.

The ex-Jets running back has been working to pickup the intricacies of the offense since he arrived in Motown.

"He’s already got high football IQ. He’s been in the League for a few years now and I say that even though he’s an N.C. State guy," said Ben Johnson. "It’s a tough one to admit, but no, he’s doing a phenomenal job picking it up and we’ll see as the week goes along how much he can handle. But, I've been encouraged with what he’s shown on scout team over the last couple weeks and so far this week in terms of running ability, pass protection and receiving ability.”

If Joseph is not available, Aaron Glenn could turn to Ifeatu Melifonwu to play alongside Tracy Walker.

The young defensive back saw action against the Seahawks when called upon.
