The top defensive backs in the NFL do not lack confidence in any sense of the word.

ESPN's recent list of top cornerbacks in the league, with Sauce Gardner being ranked second behind Denver's Pat Surtain II, has drawn a significant amount of debate online among fans and others at the position.

Former New England Patriots great Asante Samuel chimed in, expressing that the New York media market has been "carrying" Gardner's career.

Future Pro Football Hall of Famer Darrelle Revis and Gardner refuted these comments in a Twitter skirmish that has taken many twists and turns the last 48 hours.

According to Sportskeedia, "Asante Samuel took offense, claiming that the New York media market had been "carrying" Gardner's career, which led the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year and future Hall of Famer Darrelle Revis to try to refute him. Apparently, Gardner-Johnson caught wind of the feud and called out Gardner."

The talented, young Jets defensive back caught wind of comments made by Detroit's newest safety and posted, "Yeahh, @CGJXXIII just came out of nowhere hating on me, but he was just in my RP server getting robbed. I think that's why he mad."

The outspoken Gardner-Johnson downplayed the skirmish, indicating, "Listen, lil bra, ion hate!!!! U got my number!!!"

Fans of each team involved in the skirmish have weighed in, with several calling Gardner-Johnson a hater and a trash talker. Meanwhile, others have downplayed the skirmish, noting that while others may not like just how outspoken he is, they still were clamoring for him to sign with their team

MLFootball on Twitter managed to record the argument.
