Hendon Hooker: 'It's Amazing' to See Jared Goff 'Operate'
Detroit Lions rookie quarterback Hendon Hooker has spent time sitting next to Jared Goff during organized team activities.
With lockers right next to each other, and sitting in meeting rooms together during the offseason, the young quarterback has asked the established veteran questions, and has started the process of developing a relationship with Detroit's starting signal-caller.
Appearing on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football," Hooker shared how he has been observing Goff's leadership running Ben Johnson's offense.
"Our lockers are right beside each other. So, a lot of small talk. And really getting to know each other, some jokes here and there," said Hooker. "But, essentially, you know, he's an amazing quarterback. Just continuing to learn from him and watch him watching his footwork, watching how he directs traffic, when he's in the huddle and just taking command of the total offense. It's amazing to see him operate. And one day, I hope to, you know, be on that level and operate as efficient as he does."
Early impressions of head coach Dan Campbell
Like many, the talented quarterback appreciates Campbell's open-door policy in dealing with players.
Hooker recalled what Detroit's third-year head coach explained to him when he visited the team's facility prior to the draft.
"I remember going on my visit to the Lions and the pre-draft process," Hooker explained. "Just how down to earth coach was. How caring about the players he was and telling telling me that, 'If there's any question or anything that I ever wanted to bring to him, his door is open.' And, that's huge."
