Jack Campbell, Jahmyr Gibbs Reveal Rookie Songs Performed
Detroit Lions rookie linebacker Jack Campbell is happy the film crew of HBO's "Hard Knocks" was not filming his rookie performance in front of the team.
Despite his serious demeanor, Detroit's No. 18 overall pick shared he enjoyed singing a country song in front of the team.
Running back Jahmyr Gibbs revealed to reporters after practice he performed an R&B song.
Head coach Dan Campbell said earlier at camp the rookie class had huge shoes to fill, especially after Aidan Hutchinson's version of "Billie Jean" went viral online.
"They have big shoes to fill from last year," said Campbell. "No, it has not started yet, but I did tell those guys, I said, ‘Just do something. If you feel like you have a talent, it may not be, but you think it’s a talent, then just do that, and stay up there even if you get booed.' Just stay all the way until the very end because you probably won’t get called back up because it’s so brutal. It’s like, 'Forget this.' If you start and then you laugh and stink and you get booed, they’re just going to keep bringing you back up. But, they’ve been given that advice. We’ll see, they have big shoes to fill.”

On brand, Campbell chose Hank Williams Jr.'s "A Country Boy Can Survive" to perform.
While the linebacker is naturally introverted, he noted that players should just enjoy the moment and perform.
"You just have to go up there and enjoy the moment," said Campbell. "Just be yourself. Everyone has to do it. Might as well go up there and have fun with it."

Detroit's No. 12 overall pick decided to select Mario's "Let Me Love You" to perform in front of the team.
Gibbs tends to be reserved when speaking publicly, so if the opportunity is presented, it would be interesting to observe how the young back put his spin on the performance.
