Report: Jameson Williams Not Returning to Practice Next Week
The expectation was that following the Atlanta Falcons game, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams would return to practice.
Recall, the former No. 12 overall was suspended for six weeks due to violating the NFL's gambling policy.
It had become widely accepted that Williams could not play from Week 4 until Week 6, when his suspension ended, but that he could practice with the team.
Lions beat writer Justin Rogers of the Detroit News shed light on the news on social media Friday afternoon.
Rogers posted, "Clarifying with some new info. Williams can get treatment, attend meetings and do individual workouts with strength staff. He cannot participate or attend practices until the suspension is complete."
Detroit's offense has counted on veteran Josh Reynolds, referred to as 'Steady Eddy by offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, in Williams' absence.

“Man, he’s ‘Steady Eddy’ and I think the comfort level with Jared (Goff) continues to show up," Johnson explained. "There were things that we don’t necessarily rep in practice that do show up in the game that Jared knows. I think, heck it was that first drive last week, we ended up getting him on a back shoulder, which I don’t know how many times we did that in training camp. I don’t think we did that at all in training camp. But there’s just a natural rapport.
"Those guys are usually on the same page, so he’s a guy that has shown up those first two weeks for us and we need to continue to get him the ball.”
