Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams wants to have his old jersey number back, after the team traded away cornerback Jeff Okudah

Now that the former No. 3 overall pick is not part of the team, the opportunity is present for Williams to wear a familiar jersey

After the Okudah trade was announced, the former No. 12 overall pick quickly posted on social media, "I need that uno back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLZ."

At Alabama, the talented wideout donned the No. 1 uniform, but decided to wear No. 9 his rookie campaign in the NFL, since Okudah had the number already.

The rookie receiver originally chose No. 18 to honor Calvin Johnson's No. 81.

However, Williams always wanted to wear a jersey number with a single digit, similar to what he wore in college.

Numbers one-eight were unavailable, leaving No. 9 as the best option to pick.

Williams made the decision to contact former signal-caller Matthew Stafford to ask permission, since the longtime quarterback created so many memories wearing the No. 9 jersey in the Motor City.

"One thing he told me is the No. 9 is going to be moving a lot faster out on the field," Williams shared with reporters, when asked about why he originally decided to don the No. 9 jersey.
