Look: Jared Goff Launches Deep Bomb to Josh Reynolds
The Detroit Lions are hoping veteran wide receivers will complement emerging star Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Among the veterans who typically flies under the radar, but is quietly having a solid training camp, is Josh Reynolds.
On Thursday, Reynolds was on the receiving end of a deep bomb from veteran quarterback Jared Goff, easily striding into the end zone.
Reynolds, 28, has familiarity with Goff, stemming from their days with the Los Angeles Rams.
Along with Kalif Raymond and Marvin Jones, Detroit's veterans have the capability of keeping the chains moving, while the organization waits for speedy wideout Jameson Williams to overcome early hurdles.
Opportunities for young wideouts
Head coach Dan Campbell indicated the injuries to St. Brown and Williams have provided younger wideouts on the roster an opportunity to earn added targets and playing time in preseason games.
"Great opportunity. Great opportunity, it’s another spot honestly. Like this room is wide open right now," Campbell said. "I mean we’ve got a pretty good feel of some of these guys, but we have a spot, potentially two, wide open. Wide open. (Chase) Cota, you want it? Go get it. (Dylan) Drummond, you want it? Go get it. Who knows? Trinity Benson, we’re going to get him back out there a little bit today, running around. So, our eyes are wide open, and we’re looking for guys. We have a track record in the three-year period here. It doesn’t matter where you been drafted, who you are, what it is, you got an opportunity. If you want to go earn it, go get it.”

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Denzel Mims, who Campbell offered a much more measured response, when asked about his health status.
“He’s in there, he’s in the room," Campbell said.
Regarding if the former second-round pick is close to returning, Campbell said, “We’ll see, we’ll see. I wish I could give you more.”
