Lions Second Half Game-by-Game Predictions
The Detroit Lions have enjoyed about as good of a start to the 2023 season as anyone could have expected.
They've won six of their first eight games, and for the most part, have looked like a complete team capable of winning a playoff game.
And, with the fourth-easiest strength of schedule the rest of the way this year, Dan Campbell's squad has a great shot at doubling its win total before season's end.
Here's what All Lions sees happening for Detroit in its final nine games of the '23 campaign.
Week 10 - Sunday, Nov. 12 -- at Chargers 4:05 p.m., CBS
Coming off the bye, I would love to say that the Lions are ready for the challenge of stopping Justin Herbert. However, I'm going to say the 25-year-old gets the best of Aaron Glenn's defense, propelling the Chargers to the Week 10 victory.
- Loss, 34-28, (6-3)
Week 11 - Sunday, Nov. 19 -- vs. Bears 1 p.m., FOX
Two losses in a row? The Lions won't allow that to happen at home against the lowly Bears. Detroit bounces back nicely, and takes care of its divisional rivals in this Week 11 matchup.
- Win, 38-20, (7-3)
Week 12 - Thursday, Nov. 23 -- vs. Packers 12:30 p.m., FOX
Could Campbell's bunch really sweep the season series against the Packers for a second straight year? I believe it'll happen, on the heels of a strong defensive effort against Packers signal-caller Jordan Love.
- Win, 28-24, (8-3)
Week 13 - Sunday, Dec. 3 -- at Saints 1 p.m., FOX
Saints quarterback Derek Carr hasn't been very prolific so far this season, and I don't expect things to change much in this Week 13 affair.
For a third straight week, I believe that Glenn's unit will heavily curtail the production of an opposing passer.
- Win, 28-17, (9-3)
Week 14 - Sunday, Dec. 10 -- at Bears 1 p.m., FOX
Barring any further injuries, Justin Fields will be the Bears' starting QB for this Week 14 contest. And, at the confines of his home stadium (Soldier Field), I expect the dual-threat passer to have a solid game against Detroit's linebackers and secondary. Through both his arm and legs, I think he'll keep Chicago in the game for the first three quarters. Yet, I see the Lions pulling away in the fourth quarter for the eight-point victory.
- Win, 31-23, (10-3)
Week 15 - vs. Broncos (H); TBD
Make it five wins in a row for the Lions. I expect Aidan Hutchinson and his pass-rushing counterparts to get after and limit Russell Wilson's productivity, en route to the Week 15 win.
- Win, 30-17, (11-3)
Week 16 - Sunday, Dec. 24 -- at Vikings 1 p.m., FOX
Hey, the Lions can't win every game, and this is where I think they suffer a slip-up. Even without Kirk Cousins under center, I believe the Vikings have enough talent, with guys like Justin Jefferson and Danielle Hunter, to play spoiler in this late-season matchup.
- Loss, 24-17, (11-4)
Week 17 - Sunday, Dec. 31 -- at Cowboys 8:15 p.m., ESPN/ABC
How I view it, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are not a ton better than Detroit. Yet, they are the superior team at this present juncture. And, in this Week 17 primetime tilt at "Jerry World," I believe that the Cowboys' stout pass defense will make it tough for Jared Goff to have much success. And because of such, I have Dallas edging Detroit in this New Year's Eve contest.
- Loss, 27-24, (11-5)
Week 18 - vs. Vikings (H); TBD
Detroit ends its two-game losing streak, and finishes the season on a positive note against Minnesota. The Lions march into the postseason as division champs for the first time since the 1991 campaign.
- Win, 34-24, (12-5)
2023 record: 12-5
