Detroit could be without veteran left tackle Taylor Decker and cornerback Emmanuel Moseley for the home opener at Ford Field, as both were listed for the second straight day as being non-participants at practice

Playing together as a unit consistently has been a challenge for Detroit's starting offense line. Injuries in the past to Frank Ragnow and Halapoulivaati Vaitai have kept the unit from progressing.

Khalil Dorsey, who has been battling an illness, was spotted at practice, but was not participating in individual drills during the portion of practice open to the media.

On the defensive side of the football, Detroit is not the only NFL team that has struggled to contain quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

With Geno Smith, also a quarterback that is able to elude defenders, it will be imperative for Detroit's defense to improve upon its ability to be contain mobile quarterbacks.

"Well, I will tell you this, we watched a good amount of his quarterback runs this morning as a coaching staff, and then I showed it to our defensive guys," Aaron Glenn said of Smith. "We did, and it's a problem. But, as you look across the league, it was an issue for a number of teams with him, as far as him running the ball. So, there's some things that we're playing with to make sure we deal with that. But, this league, it's starting to get tough with these quarterbacks running the ball. We just gotta be good in that area."
