Lions Announce Week 11 Roster Moves
The Detroit Lions announced on Saturday afternoon roster decisions ahead of their Week 11 home contest against the Chicago Bears
It was announced that defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna and offensive lineman Connor Galvin were elevated from the team's practice squad.
Prior to Saturday, Detroit already had ruled out defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs and left guard Jonah Jackson.
Dan Campbell reiterated this week the team has a significant amount of trust placed in the members of the roster currently on the practice squad.
Detroit has not had a significant amount of turnover compared to other regimes. The reason why: The coaching staff wants to feel comfortable that its players fully understand the scheme when a decision is made to elevate a player.
“Yeah, we’ve got Brodric (Martin), we’ve got (Quinton) Bohanna. Those guys know they’ve got to earn their reps, and we say early in the week, ‘Man, you’ve got to earn it and you’ll get an opportunity," Campbell explained to reporters. "And, if you prove that you’re worthy of it, then we’ll put you in the game.’ So, yeah, all of those guys know that are on the vet squad, that they’re going to have an opportunity, and most of those guys are ones that have been here for the duration.
"There’s a little turnover that happens," Campbell commented further. "But, ultimately, we think it’s important to have guys that we trust, know our system. We understand what kind of people they are and their teammates, they’re around them, they see enough of them to where there’s a trust level once they go and it’s time for them to help us.”
