Detroit Lions Re-Sign Donovan Peoples-Jones
The Detroit Lions have decided to re-sign a wideout who joined the team at the trade deadline last season.
Donovan Peoples-Jones, who was traded to the Lions after a stint with the Browns, has reportedly signed a one-year contract worth up to $2 million, according to Bleacher Report.
Despite joining one of the top offensive units in the NFL, the veteran wideout did not make much of an impact.
In eight games following the trade, the former Michigan Wolverines wideout recorded 72 offensive snaps, and totaled five receptions for 58 yards on seven targets.
Lions lose two key special teams contributors
Detroit has certainly not overlooked the importance of special teams contributors.
In free agency, two key contributors have departed, leaving a hole in Dave Fipp's special teams unit.
Chase Lucas, who is the first player drafted by general manager Brad Holmes to depart, signed with the San Francisco 49ers. Meanwhile, linebacker Anthony Pittman departed for the Washington Commanders.
It was reported that cornerback Tavierre Thomas, who visited the Lions this week, is also visiting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Thomas is known for his special teams prowess.
