Lions Defeat Chiefs in 2023 Madden Simulation
The Detroit Lions were able to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs, 21-14, in a recently completed EA Sports Madden '23 online simulation.
Its Vikk Simulations used updated rosters to simulate the season-opener, which will be broadcast to a nationwide audience to kick off the upcoming season.
Detroit was able to score early in the contest. Quarterback Jared Goff found wide receiver Josh Reynolds for a 77-yard touchdown reception, with Reynolds easily getting behind the Chiefs' secondary.
Late in the first quarter, Detroit was able to extend its lead to 10-0, after kicker Michael Badgley converted on a 19-yard field goal.
After Detroit's defense stifled the Chiefs for most of the first half, the team took a 13-0 lead, with Badgley converting on a 36-yarder.
Kansas City got on the board late in the first half. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the team on a touchdown drive to cut into Detroit's lead.
Detroit headed to the locker room, leading, 13-7.
Running back Isiah Pacheco broke a long run to give the Chiefs their first lead, 14-13, midway through the third quarter.
Detroit's offense, needing to control the clock, drove the length of the field to take up a significant chunk of the fourth quarter.
Goff found tight end Sam LaPorta for the go-ahead touchdown. Reynolds secured the two-point conversion, giving Detroit the 21-14 lead.
Mahomes was not successful in his efforts to lead the Chiefs' comeback. Pressure from the Lions' defensive line forced a throw that was intercepted by cornerback Emmanuel Moseley.
Following the Goff kneel down, Detroit prevailed victorious, 21-14, in the online simulation.
