Lions Draw Unpopular Officiating Crew for Monday Night Football
It is never good when an entire NFL fanbase groins when it is officially announced which officiating crew is working a game.
Unfortunately for Detroit Lions fans, who are quite aware just how many penalties are called when this crew takes the field, Clete Blakeman and his crew will be tasked with working the Lions' Week 8 Monday Night Football contest.
It is widely known that Blakeman's games are bogged down due to flagging a very high number of plays, seemingly becoming a topic of conversation each time he and his crew work a game.
Back in 2019, Detroit was holding on to a nine-point, 22-13, lead against the Packers in the fourth quarter at Lambeau Field.
At around the 10-minute mark, the Lions appeared to bring down Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for a sack, on third down.
Unfortunately, high-priced defensive end Trey Flowers was called for illegal use of the hands, allowing the Packers to continue their drive.
In the end, Detroit went on to lose the game, as Flowers was again flagged for a questionable penalty.
While Detroit is an aggressive, physical team, it will be interesting to observe just how many flags are tossed in Week 8 at Ford Field.
