Jared Goff: Lions Fans May Have Forced Chiefs False Start

Detroit Lions praise fans who traveled to Kansas City.

The scene at Arrowhead Stadium was surreal on Thursday evening.

After the Detroit Lions tied the football game against the Kansas City Chiefs in the second half, supporters who traveled, most who donned blue shirts or a blue Lions jersey, began chanting 'Lets Go Lions' and quite loudly.

Quarterback Jared Goff noted that Lions' fans may have even forced the Chiefs offensive line to commit a false start penalty in their own stadium in the fourth quarter.

“Yeah, it felt a lot like Green Bay last year, very similar. We love our fans," said Goff. "It seemed like they may have forced that false start at the end for Kansas City, which would be pretty impressive if so. It looked like it. They were loud when we were on defense and they were quiet when we were on offense. They helped us out there on defense.”

Head coach Dan Campbell definitely noticed the sea of blue that stood out at Arrowhead Stadium during pregame warmups.

“When I walked out in the pregame, I’m looking and I saw a sea of blue,” Campbell said. “I’m like, 'Wow’. And then about the third quarter, you could start hearing them. You could hear them and it just started to grow.”

With a renewed sense of hope, a large of contingent of supporters have been traveling to every road game the past 12 months.

If the level of support was that high on the road, imagine what the reception will be for the Lions when they return to Ford Field next Sunday for the home opener.

“Once we got into the fourth quarter, our fans, they made themselves known and we could feel it," said Campbell. "It’s outstanding to have fans that travel like that. We see you and it’s much appreciated. I can’t wait to get back to Ford Field. Because you know how loud (Arrowhead) is, I know our place is going to be louder than that.”
