Lions Fans React to Potential Uniform Change Teaser

Could the Lions be bringing back black jerseys in 2024?

The Detroit Lions social media team posted a potential teaser regarding a uniform the team could don in 2024.

Featuring the new alternate helmet, some fans speculated what posting "Black and Blue Division" really meant, including the possibility of bringing back black uniforms.

While many were hoping for new uniforms in 2023, the team plans to take it's time and overhaul the entire look.

According to team president Rod Wood, who discussed the new uniforms with the Detroit Free Press, "There will not be new uniforms in 2023. I know people get over their skis on that. It takes really two years to really get going, so (chief communications and brand officer) Brian (Facchini) and a team have been kind of working with Nike, looking at uniforms that will probably be for 2024."

Recall, the Lions donned black alternate jerseys from 2004-2006.

According to USA Today's LionsWire, "With the long-awaited new uniforms coming as soon as 2024, could this be a teaser for a return of the popular black jerseys? The team can also change the color rush jerseys from the divisive grey uniforms, which pair with the blue alternate helmets in 2023. That also wouldn’t happen until 2024 at the earliest, but that’s also a possibility."

While there are many ways to interpret the team's post, some fans took to social media to share their thoughts regarding black uniforms.

Some loved the idea of donning a black jersey, while others wanted to totally put the jersey to rest, as memories of Joey Harrington leading the team under center were quite unpleasant.

One local blogger posted, "Why? Why would you want to be reminded of these years of Detroit Lions football?
