Lions Fans React to Awful Mock Draft Released by Analytics Expert

NFL media released one of the worst Detroit Lions mock drafts of the week.
In this story:

NFL Network host and analytical expert Cynthia Frelund acknowledges her mock drafts are not traditional.

"I always do my NFL mock drafts a little differently from the traditional method, in that my team-prospect pairings are based on optimizing for wins in the upcoming season only," Frelund commented.

Even with the caveat, her latest projections have been panned by several supporters of the Detroit Lions.

The NFL analyst had the Lions selecting at No. 6 (via the Rams) and No. 18 overall.

With the No. 6 pick, the Lions select Pittsburgh Panthers defensive lineman Calijah Kancey.

"Overall, Kancey is my 18th highest-rated prospect, and this is slot No. 6. Are you picking up what I’m putting down, Detroit? Maybe see if you can add an extra pick or two in a later round and still get this guy, Motor City Kitties," Frelund said. "Keen free agency moves at the corner position makes addressing the interior of the defensive line the value play here. Kancey had a ridiculous NFL Scouting Combine, and I was also able to watch his Pitt film with a few team execs to ask questions."

With the second of two first-round picks, Detroit general manager Brad Holmes selects Utah Utes tight end Dalton Kincaid.

Frelund explained, "The Lions have a strong O-line (forecasts to be in the top echelon) already, so Kincaid’s value is really about his pass-catching prowess. He was highly productive last year (70 catches for 890 yards), showcasing real ability after the catch."

Here is a sample of the reaction online to Frelund's latest projections.
