Lions Fans React to Jalen Carter's Body Cam Video
The Detroit Lions have a tough decision regarding one of the most talented draft prospects coming out in this year's draft.
Georgia Bulldogs Jalen Carter has been the subject of intense scrutiny since he struggled mightily at his Pro Day in front of evaluators.
At the combine, Carter left to address a legal matter stemming from a tragic January automobile accident that killed a Georgia staff member and one of his teammates.
Carter eventually plead no contest and was sentenced to 12 months of probation, community service and paying a $1,000 fine.
ESPN's Matt Miller explained in a recent conference call with reporters, "We talked about Jalen Carter earlier, where does he fit? I think Detroit is the best fit for Carter, outside of Philly. This is a great fit because you have Dan Campbell. He’s going to make sure that you’re working.”
Miller also added, "Talking to people at Georgia, one thing I heard consistently was that Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean were those players for Carter. They led the locker room and everyone followed, everyone got in lockstep."
Body cam footage was recently released showing Carter's conversation with officers following the accident.
Currently, the Lions are still researching and evaluating players that could be selected with the No. 6 overall pick, as the selection is not as clear as in previous years.
"There's still more work to do," said Holmes at the league meetings. "We've already done a lot of work, but like I talked about the process, we just kind of surrender the results to that, and we're still going through the process. Still more work to do. We'll make sure we'll get to the point where we'll make the best decision to add the best football player for us."
After viewing the video, fans took to social media to either debate the merits of posting the video or to reaffirm their desire for the Lions to avoid drafting a player who will not pan out due to issues away from the field.
