Safety Quandre Diggs was among the most popular members of the Detroit Lions defense, before his tenure soured with the team's front office and coaching staff.

The talented defensive back was a sixth-round draft pick back in 2015 and played in Motown until October of 2019.

Former general manager Bob Quinn, who wanted to move on from outspoken players who did not mesh well with head coach Matt Patricia, decided to deal Diggs to Seattle, along with a seventh-round pick, in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

With new head coach Mike Macdonald heading into his first season, the Seahawks organization decided to shed some salary, adding $27.5 million in cap space by releasing the 31-year-old and Jamal Adams. The team reportedly had less than $13 million in cap space heading into free agency.

The duo had been the NFC West squad's starting safeties since 2020.

Diggs immediately became one of the most productive players on Seattle’s defense, earning 17 interceptions.

Also, Diggs was named to the Pro Bowl honors from 2020-2022.

Lions' supporters immediately took to social media to share their thoughts about the team running it back again with the productive safety.

Heading into free agency, Detroit parted ways with Tracy Walker due to the emergence of Ifeatu Melifonwu and Kerby Joseph.

The team could still decide to re-sign Ceedy Duce, who only signed a one-year contract last offseason after a stint with the Eagles.

Here is a sample of the reaction online to Diggs being released by the Seahawks.
