Lions' Injury Updates: Montgomery Dealing with Thigh Bruise, Houston Out 'A Little While'
Throughout Sunday's game, a number of Detroit Lions received medical attention for various injuries sustained against the Seattle Seahawks.
Some, such as wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, left briefly before returning later in the game. Others, like running back David Montgomery, linebacker James Houston and offensive guard Halapoulivaati Vaitai, did not return.
Montgomery, according to Dan Campbell, is dealing with a thigh bruise. More information will be available on his status Monday. He was banged up in the second half, and was carted off to the locker room in the fourth quarter.
Houston, meanwhile, is expected to be out "a little while," per Campbell. He suffered an ankle injury, and was ruled out quickly.
There was no update provided for Vaitai's status, though, as the third-year head coach said he was unsure of the severity. The offensive lineman was originally ruled questionable to return with a knee injury, upon leaving in the fourth quarter.
"I'll know more tomorrow, I'm not sure," Campbell stated of Vaitai. "I'll know more tomorrow."
Vaitai's loss would add another detriment to Detroit's starting offensive line. The unit has played exactly one game with all five of its starters over the past three seasons, which was last week against Kansas City.
Left tackle Taylor Decker missed Sunday's game, and Vaitai may wind up missing more time after exiting against the Seahawks. In their absence, Matt Nelson filled in at right tackle with Penei Sewell sliding to left tackle, while Graham Glasgow stepped up at right guard.
St. Brown was ruled questionable to return with cramps, following his exit. He returned for the Lions' final offensive drive.
Hutchinson, meanwhile, left and returned two plays later, with an undisclosed ailment. He finished the game on the field.
