Lions Noticed Jameson Williams Putting in 'Crazy' Work
Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is poised for a breakout season in 2024.
After serving his suspension to start the 2023 season, the speedy wideout steadily gained the trust of the coaching staff and his teammates.
While a look at his statistical numbers will not reflect the true contributions Williams actually made, teammates noticed the extra work put in after practice and his willingness to block when his number was not called.
"I was so proud of watching him and all the plays that he's had over this postseason run and the latter half of the season. Everything he was doing didn't come as a surprise, because he was putting in so much work," veteran wideout Kalif Raymond said, via the team's website. "It was actually crazy to see how much work he put in.
"I was like, 'Dude, your distance in practice and after practice and before practice has got to be up there. It's got to be hitting some numbers.' He put the work in when nobody was looking."
Against the 49ers, the former first-round draft pick electrified supporters who traveled from Detroit, when he scampered 42 yards to give his team an early 7-0 lead.
Recall, Williams also secured a 3-yard touchdown reception, and added a contested 22-yard catch in the team's season-ending loss on the road.
Detroit's veteran signal-caller, Jared Goff, expressed Williams was doing everything possible to grow and understand what his responsibilities were on each play.
With offensive coordinator Ben Johnson returning for another season, expectations have grown that Williams will be an even more integral part of the offense in 2024.
