Lions Open as 1-Point Favorite against Packers
After a hard fought victory against the Atlanta Falcons, the Detroit Lions will play their first division game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
The Lions (2-1) have opened as a 1-point betting favorite to start division play on a winning note.
Detroit, after a disappointing loss to the Seahawks, played with a level of urgency on defense that produced quality results at Ford Field in Week 3.
Third-year head coach Dan Campbell, knowing his team needed a jolt, expressed his gratitude for the team bouncing back with a solid week of practice and performance in front of the home fans.
"I was proud when we needed it the most on offense we came through with a big one. Jared) Goff hung in there, took a few shots, but man he played a tough game and that o-line just kept banging away," said Campbell. "But look, it’s a great win, it really is, knowing the opponent we just came from.”
Aaron Glenn's defense was able to shut down the Falcons rushing attack and quieted the critics, who started to question the coaching staff and the young roster.
“Yeah, when you have a team like ours with the talent that we got, I mean going into this year, you know that this was going to be our year," said Aidan Hutchinson. "After a tough loss like that with the guys that we have, there’s no other way you’ve got to bounce back. So that was the plan, and we did that, and we just have to continue it.”
Last season, Detroit was able to spoil the Packers' season, as Campbell's squad surprised the NFL world by winning on Sunday Night Football, even after discovering they had failed to qualify for the postseason.
Detroit's roster played with passion and ended Aaron Rodgers' tenure with the Packers on a losing note.
