Detroit Lions Release Latest 'Inside the Den' 2023 Pre-Draft Video
The Detroit Lions released a new episode of "Inside the Den" leading up to the NFL Draft, which begins in 24 hours.
The episode showcased the team's activity throughout free agency. New additions, including cornerback Cameron Sutton, running back David Montgomery and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, were shown meeting with various members of the organization, including general manager Brad Holmes.
Offensive lineman Graham Glasgow, who signed a one-year deal, explained that he desired to return to Detroit this offseason.
Having already spent a stint with the Lions, the former Michigan Wolverine said in an interview that he contacted teammates Frank Ragnow and Taylor Decker about his hopes of returning to Motown.
Defensive end John Cominsky, who re-signed in the offseason, was profiled. During training camp last season, he was considered on the fringe of making the roster.
With so much uncertainty last year, he and his wife Brittney were raising their daughter inside a room at the team hotel.
With a new contract in tow now, he spoke at length about the newfound flexibility.
"It's everything you want," Cominsky said. "You want security on a team, you want something that's gonna keep you there. You're not living in a hotel wondering where you're gonna be. Your family is, my wife was here raising the baby on her own. She's struggling, and you know she's struggling, and there's not much you can do, because you have to focus on your tasks. So, that security has been awesome for my family, and stability for my wife, to know that she's gonna be in one place and be comfortable raising her daughter."
While not diving too deep into the team's pre-draft preparations, the episode showcased a number of the area scouts that lead the search for the Lions' picks.
Among those profiled was Eloy Ledesma, who was shown making a visit to Western Michigan University.
Holmes, a former area scout himself, understands the grind that his employees are going through in an effort to help the team.
"They've done a lot of work, they're passionate about the players," Holmes explained. "They're so critical, because they can see more than anybody else."
Detroit's third-year general manager revealed that he misses scouting in the months leading up to the draft. He rekindled that feeling while visiting Alabama's pro day this offseason.
With the draft fast approaching, he's excited to make additions that he hopes will continue the team's upward trajectory.
