53-Man Lions Roster Projection Week 2

Updated roster projection after two weeks of Lions 2023 training camp.
In this story:

Here is the latest 53-man roster projection after two weeks of Detroit Lions training camp.

There are a few changes from our last projection, as young players are making a case to earn a spot on the active roster coming out of camp.

Quarterbacks (2)

If Sudfeld continues to struggle like he did against Detroit's No. 1 defense on Day 11, he will find himself not making the team at the conclusion of training camp.

General manager Brad Holmes has not shied away from making changes to the quarterback room, as the team parted ways with David Blough and Tim Boyle prior to the start of the 2022 season.

Running backs (4)

  • David Montgomery
  • Jahmyr Gibbs
  • Justin Jackson
  • Jason Cabinda (FB)

Veteran Justin Jackson is demonstrating daily why the decision to bring him back was the correct one. He is quickly distancing himself from the others in competition for the third running back spot.

Wide receivers (6)

  • Amon-Ra St. Brown
  • Marvin Jones Jr.
  • Josh Reynolds
  • Kalif Raymond
  • Denzel Mims
  • Dylan Drummond
  • Jameson Williams (Suspended)

A change from the previous projection involves the former Eastern Michigan wideout making the team. As the preseason progresses, Drummond will be given an opportunity to make plays against other NFL opponents.

If he continues to shine, as he has each day at camp, he will take Antoine Green's roster spot.
