Lions Seeking Payback against Seahawks: 'We Remember'
The Detroit Lions' 48-45 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at Ford Field proved to be quite costly last season.
The Seahawks, which did not punt once in Detroit, ended up securing a playoff berth as they secured the edge in the tiebreaker over Dan Campbell's team at the conclusion of the 2022 regular season.
For Detroit's roster and coaching staff, playing the NFC West squad provides an opportunity to get revenge in front of a very excited and eager fanbase.
"I know not every player on this team has been here, but I have and my coaches have and there is a significant amount of guys who have been here, and these guys have gotten us for two years," Campbell told 97.1 The Ticket in a recent interview. "They’ve really rubbed our noses in it. They’re also the ones that knocked us out of the playoffs last year, so I think we’re playing for a lot. It’s time for us to do something here. Enough is enough."
The Seahawks, coming off of a disappointing loss in Week 1, will be seeking to quickly right the ship at Ford Field.
"We expect a physical battle, and we’ll be physical, but we expect them to freaking load it up and just run it downhill. Give us every gap scheme you can imagine, they’ll run some of the zone, some of the RPO, but they’re going to run it, man," said Campbell. "Knowing Coach (Pete) Carroll, he’s going to get back to his basics, his roots, and see if we can handle it."

Center Frank Ragnow provided a reasoned and measured response when asked about playing Seattle in Week 2.
"I think it's definitely in the back of our mind, right," Ragnow said. "But also, it's a new season. They got a lot of new guys up front. We got new players. So, it's definitely in the back of your mind. But, you have to realize that every year in this league, it's a whole new year, it's a whole new team. So, we'll just stay focused on this week."
At Ford Field, Detroit's defense is looking to play the role of villain, with the hopes of sending Seattle to a record of 0-2.
"What Coach Brad (Holmes) say, we villains, right? It's part of us, it’s just the culture. I’m changing it," said C.J. Gardner-Johnson. "No paper bags. Ski masks, we taking what’s ours."
Jared Goff expressed the team is quite familiar with Pete Carroll's squad, as the Lions and the Seahawks have faced off the past two seasons.
“Absolutely, we remember. Really, two years in a row," Goff explained. "They’ve beaten us two years in a row. We remember and want to get our shot back, but they’ll be ready. They’re coming off a loss, and have a lot to play for, as well. So, we’ll be ready for a good fight.”
Throughout his career in the NFL, Goff has gained familiarity playing the Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals, due to starting his career playing for the Los Angeles Rams.
"Probably them and Arizona, probably been the most two, but yeah, we’ve played some out both years here," Goff said of facing Seattle. "So, yeah, we’re very familiar with each other, and it’ll be a fun one.”
