Lions to Host Raiders on Monday Night Football
The Detroit Lions will again be featured on Monday Night Football, as it has been confirmed the team will host the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8 at Ford Field.
It is the first occasion Detroit will host a Monday Night Football game since 2018, when the Jets steamrolled the Lions, 48-17, to open the season.
The Lions are 6-7 all-time against the Raiders, with the most recent meeting being a 31-24 road loss on Nov. 3, 2019. Detroit has won four of the last five meetings.
After the team was all but shut out of primetime games in 2022, the team will be featured much more in front of nationally televised audiences this upcoming season.
"I assume we'll be in more games than just Thanksgiving," Lions president Rod Wood said at the annual league meetings. "There's going to be more opportunities for primetime games, too, because there's going to be three simulcast games on Monday Night Football, with ABC and ESPN, so that's two more. There's the Amazon game the day after Thanksgiving, which obviously we wouldn't play in. But, it creates another primetime game for another team. So, there is more inventory, which should enhance our opportunity, as well as the outlook of the team."
Both of the games against the Packers will be nationally televised, and it was announced that the team will play in the Thursday NFL season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs for the first time in franchise history.
Detroit has an all-time Monday Night Football record of 19-23-1.
