Lions Trade Pick No. 55 to Kansas City Chiefs
Lions general manager Brad Holmes has added a fourth-round pick and a seventh-round pick in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Slated to be selecting at No. 55, Holmes decided to trade picks No. 55 and No. 194 to the Kansas City Chiefs, in exchange for picks No. 63, No. 122 and No. 249.
Holmes has been active in this year's draft, as he also traded with the Green Bay Packers on Day 2 to select defensive back Brian Branch.
In the first round, Detroit's third-year general manager was able to secure additional picks by trading with the Arizona Cardinals, moving down from the No. 6 pick to No. 12.
"This is a different draft," Holmes expressed, when discussing how the team set itself up following Day 1. "I’ve always said you don’t draft with a depth chart. But, at the same time, you just want to get the best football players for you. So, once we made the trade with Arizona and we were able to still get 34 and still get those two players, we were pretty excited. So, when the first round ended, there’s still some good players that we’d be excited about. Whether we stay or not that remains to be seen. You still have the flexibility of going up or down. I think we’re in a really good spot.”
