Emmanuel Moseley Ruled Out against Chiefs

The Lions' new cornerback will not play in the season opener.

The Detroit Lions will be without cornerback Emmanuel Moseley Thursday night, according to the team's final injury report published Wednesday.

Only two players expected to play key roles in Week 1 -- center Frank Ragnow and Moseley -- had been listed on the injury report throughout the week.

Moseley was activated off the PUP list prior to final cuts, and is still acclimating to Aaron Glenn's defensive system.

"Encouraging. Every day, man, he's getting his legs back under him. He's been getting some reps out there and then he took some 1-on-1 reps the other day, that was his first kind of taste of it," Campbell said of Moseley Tuesday. "You can tell, he's got a big grin on his face, he's starting to feel pretty good. Here we are, really three days after the fact, and he's feeling pretty good. So, he's getting better."

Ragnow is expected to play at a high level in the middle of the Lions' offensive line. The talented blocker is among a solid group of offensive linemen that has drawn plenty of rave reviews.

Second-year tackle Penei Sewell was named one of the team's six captains, but Campbell said the honor could've gone to any of the members of the unit.

"It says a lot, and that's, you know, we have a ton of those guys, particularly on the offensive line," Campbell said. "Frank, (Taylor Decker), Jonah, (Halapoulivaati Vaitai) who's been here. It's an outstanding core group of guys who all do it the right way. They all pretty much lean on each other, so it says a lot. I feel like we're in a really good spot with our leadership here. I really do."

The Kansas City Chiefs listed All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce as questionable. Kelce hyperextended his knee at the team's practice facility Tuesday, and is reportedly dealing with swelling in his knee.
