Lions' Wild Card Thursday Injury Report

The Lions released their latest Thursday injury report.

The Detroit Lions added tight end James Mitchell to their injury report Thursday, ahead of their Wild Card matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.

This means all three of the Lions' tight ends on roster are currently on the injury report. On Thursday, Sam LaPorta provided an encouraging update regarding his health by telling reporters that he participated in drills after practice.

Brock Wright, meanwhile, has been a full participant in both practices this week, after missing the last three games with a hip injury. If LaPorta cannot play, the Lions are expected to lean on Wright and Mitchell to fill the void.

“We’re always gonna do what those guys do best, whoever we have out there. LaPorta’s got a little bit different skill set than the rest of those, and frankly, the rest of the league," said Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. "He’s awesome. So, yeah, if he can’t go, then those other guys will have to step up, and maybe we ask them to do a little bit different jobs than what we’ve done with Sam.

"But, it’ll be great potentially getting Brock back this week. He has been a, quietly, over the last few years, a key cog of what we’ve done offensively.”
